Kavkaz Forum. 2025. Issue 23. Abstract: The article presents the experience of a comparative study of the Karachay-Balkarian and Ossetian ridiculous culture. The object of the study is the following comic folklore texts («Ah, I froze, ah, ah!», «Wonderful man», «Song of twice married», «Bad wife», «My gelding», «Gylzha», «Sausage» (Karachay-Balkarian) and «Song facing Satan», «Come out, the host», «Happy family», «Song of the bow», «Building», «If your wife is good», «Simd», «Ossetian» (Ossetian). Attrack, absurdity, hyperbole, grotesque, comparison, irony, sarcasm, parody, humor, amoebic compositions, caricature images, epithets, metaphors, repetitions, elements of magical realism have been revealed. The negative features of the character of husbands and wives are ridiculed from national ethical standards. Judging by the numerous parallels and intertextual rollings in terms of themes, problems, key characters, the system of ethical and aesthetic values. The use of fantastic details, paradoxical logical constructions are aimed at developing non-standard thinking skills in children. The conclusion was drawn about the significant typological similarity of Karachay- Balkarian and Ossetian comic and table folk songs, judging by the numerous parallels and intertextual rollbacks in terms of themes, problems, key characters, a system of ethical and aesthetic values. The study of the material can form the basis of special courses and textbooks on the problems of folklore comparativeness and the specifics of the Caucasian culture of laughter in the higher school system.
