Abstract:
Scientific and political activity of Ludwig Alekseevich Chibirov is well known.
He is a representative of Ossetian intelligentsia, which is the property of the
united Ossetia. This understanding was a reflection of his contribution to science
and political activity of the mountainous region. He is The First President of the
Republic of South Ossetia, an ethnographer, historian, public figure. However,
another aspect of expression of his creative nature – journalism – is less known.
Ludwig Alekseevich ‘s journalistic articles are devoted to important questions of
the history of the Ossetian people, events of the socio-political life of the modern
society. L. Chibirov talks about it not as an detached observer, but as an active
participant in the transformation processes in society. In his works he talks about
the formation of a single national space in Ossetia, the founding of the Republic of
South Ossetia as a State, he condemns nationalism and xenophobia in any form.
His purpose is to provide scientific arguments of the Ossetians’ rights to the Alan
heritage.His arguments are comprehesive and convincing as they are based on
the vast historical data. The essays devoted to national intellectuals are portraying
their character, they reveal the identity of a person from different sides. With the
help of L.Chibirov, his contemporaries learned about the Ossetian educator, priest
Akso Koliev, whose name was undeservedly forgotten for decades. Another person
restored fromhistorical digression was made in relation of the illuminator Iuane
Yalguztidze-Gabaraev. L.Chibirov’s journalistic legacy is significant and plays an
important role in understanding the events of the past and present.
