Abstract:
The essence of the worldview and methodological principles of V.F. Miller, who
were followed by the first Ossetian scientists, and now scientists - contemporaries
led by Professor Ludwig Alekseevich Chibirov, in that he considered the social life
and public consciousness of Ossetians in a complex, holistic, systemic way, as
interconnected and interdependent phenomena. What did such an approach of
V.F. Miller give in the process of studying Ossetian reality? First of all, he helped to
deeply comprehend and understand the philosophy of the mountain life of the
Ossetians, their spiritual and moral «selfhood». The indisputable feat of V.F. Miller
is that, skillfully using the principle of historicism, he showed how the processes
of ethnic life of Ossetians are systemic, and their dynamics and dialectics are
complex and contradictory. The scientist considered the interdependence of
ethnic life and socio-historical reality as an integrity, which helped him to study
the essence of the socio-historical creativity of the Ossetian people, using its
archetypes, symbols and traditions in value and structure. So V.F. Miller formed
objective knowledge about Ossetians, reflected their ethno-ontological picture of
the world, in which Ossetians are presented as a central figure, as a subject of ideas,
feelings, emotions, will, lifestyle and behavior, i.e. a complex of ideas about their
identity, which unites all generations who lived before and live now. This ethnic
identity, through language, culture, tradition, etc., incl. and fiction, - connects all
generations of Ossetians, educates them, gives them patterns of behavior, lessons
of love for the motherland, forms common ideas, goals, meanings, attitudes, gives
a sense of the unity of the nation, spiritual and spiritual kinship with their national
world. VF Miller showed how the cultural tradition of the people was the basis of
the spiritual revival of the Ossetians. And these are the fundamental foundations
of the scientific methodology of V.F. Miller, on the basis of which Professor L.A.
Chibirov successfully builds his theoretical research, in particular, in the field of
Ossetian literary criticism.
