ORTHODOX CULTURE AND PROBLEMS OF SPIRITUAL AND MORAL EDUCATION IN THE CONDITIONS OF GLOBALIZATION
Koibaev, Boris G.
Kavkaz Forum. 2022. Issue 11.
Abstract: The relevance of this article is determined by globalization challenges that
threaten the institution of the family as the main social institution in Russia and
the world as a whole. At the turn of the XXth-XXIst centuries there has been a
transformation of the role, meaning and functions of nation-states, the destruction
of national cultures is also observed. As a result, the modern world order as a set
of sovereign states is subject to serious deformation, the world is plunging into
local and regional political and military conflicts that have led to the collapse of
a number of multinational states and a change in the territorial boundaries of a
number of countries. The borders of modern states become frontiers because they
are connected with other regions and are involved in all sorts of transnational
groupings. As a result, the spiritual and moral foundations of national states
and national cultures are destroyed, which leads to the radicalization of national
communities, the mythologization of their own history and religious revival. Under
these conditions, the younger generation cannot distinguish good from evil,
treats the older generation with disrespect, young people show aggressiveness
and cruelty towards each other, do not think about the future of their country,
their society. Therefore, an important link in the formation of a personality is
spiritual and moral education in the family, in educational institutions and in
society as a whole. The socio-economic and demographic crisis in Russia has
given rise to many problems in the field of family education: moral ideas about
marriage and the family have been destroyed, the foundations of the family
have been damaged, the dominance of material values over spiritual ones in the
modern family; there is a devaluation of family values, the social significance of
fatherhood and motherhood is reduced.
